Mt 10:24-25 The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord. It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household?
The student is wise to consider Jesus’ words before ‘correcting’ the teacher. Even more so, before we disciples ‘correct’ the Bible we should remember His words. Our desire to ‘correct’ is usually due to our lack of understanding or desire to obey. Amen?
The second application to our Lord’s words may be even more difficult to accept. Jesus is also our Master. The follower of Christ should not expect to suffer less than He did. If people hated Jesus and called Him the chief of devils (Beelzebub), we Christians can well expect to be called names, even physically beaten. And when this happens, will we bear it as our Master did? Or will we wrongly fight back under the misguided ‘authority’ to put them in their place?
In these last days we see many ‘teachers’ and students claiming that their understanding is more correct than what Jesus or the Bible has to say. Patriot students are encouraged to and applauded for believing that our Teacher is the only source of truth.
