| Why did Jesus use parables to teach? Is teaching with a parable effective? Very much so. Parables are short. They rely on the supplemental spiritual teaching of the Holy Spirit. Jesus knows all. Certainly He is able to conduct a 3 day lecture on a topic, yet He chose to teach with short parables. People remembered the stories and continually learned from them each time they meditated on it.
“And with many such parables spake he the word unto them, as they were able to hear it. But without a parable spake he not unto them:” Mark 4:33-34
Patriot curriculum is also direct and ‘to the point’. It relies on the revelation of the Holy Spirit. Patriot curriculum cannot stand alone. It must be coupled with Bible reading and Holy Spirit counsel. The lessons are not lengthy discourses of scholarly facts and human wisdom. Rather, students continue to learn from the Biblically based teaching even after they finish the course. The object of the curriculum is to teach-not create volumes of busy-work effort for the student.
Bible teachers and preachers do well to use stories and illustrations that point the listener to a Biblical truth. People love to hear stories and will learn from them. Hollywood uses dramatic film stories to convey their worldview teachings. It is spectacularly effective. Let us be persuasive in how we convey God’s Truth.
