Fascinating Facts About the King James Version

By Pastor Bruce K. Oyen

I have been reading the Bible for over 40 years, and have read it from cover-to-cover many times. Most of those readings have been of the King james Version, also known as The Authorized Version. We should frequently read the Bible because it is the Word of God, and as such it has the ability to speak to the heart and mind in a way that no other book can, no matter how good it might be. The main message of the Bible is how we can receive forgivenss of sins, and obtain assurance that we will spend eternity with God in heaven, instead of in hell with the devil. To read a brief but good article that will tell you how to get to heaven, click on the following link: www.godssimpleplan.org/gsps-english.html.

It is interesting and helpful to know the background of any Bible translation we read. There are many good books available that give that information. Such information is also on the internet. Since the King James Version is still a very popular Bible translation, its readers should learn the fascinating facts about it. What follows is a link to one source of  some of those facts. It gives links to more information about this beloved translation. Here’s the link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/King_James_Version_of_the_Bible.

Some readers might want to know my view of Bible translations. Here it is: I hold the same view of Bible translations as did the translators of the King James Version. I hold the same view of the subject as historic evangelicalism and fundamentalism. This means I consider the King James Version to be a generally reliable translation, but not a perfect translation. And I do not make the use of the King James Version a test of orthodoxy or a test of fellowship.
